Idea
The video for Pier Askeladd and Lona is built as a path from a grey city to living fire. It opens cold and documentary: panel blocks, a courtyard from above, empty streets. Then people, warmth and colour come into the frame, and by the end the story moves out into a night field where the hero is left alone with the fire.
Visual language
The video is split into two worlds. The first part is black and white and grainy, as if shot on film: the city, small everyday things, shadows. The second is in warm colour: red light in apartments, a bar, a night highway, snow and fire. The move from one world to the other is the drama of the piece.
Production
It is one of our biggest crews: more people on set than on Garah, where around 20 people worked.
We shot in the city and outside it: panel-block courtyards, apartments, a bar, a night highway and a field where the final fire scene was staged.
