Idea
The first episode of a project about cities seen through the eyes of the people who live in them. Cape Town is often pictured through stereotypes; the film shows it through people: emigrants, entrepreneurs, medics, artists. They talk about the pros and cons of life in South Africa, about work, creativity and moving there.
Visual language
The film moves through the city like a journey: Green Point, Hout Bay, student Stellenbosch, surfing in Jeffreys Bay, penguins, wineries. Interviews alternate with live footage of streets, the ocean and nature, and the author is on screen guiding the viewer.
Production
We made the film from idea to edit: its author, cinematographer and director guides it on screen himself. A month of filming in Cape Town and around it became a 53-minute film.
It came out on the CapeTimeRU YouTube channel in December 2024 and has more than 80 thousand views.
